Coaching & Facilitation

Strengthen how your teams think, connect and perform.

Openloop offers coaching and facilitation that help teams work well together and perform at their best. Through personalised coaching, we help people build self-awareness, emotional intelligence and communication skills. Our facilitated workshops and planning sessions combine practical exercises and honest conversation to build trust, surface what's really going on in the organisation and align on the way forward, tailored to the outcome you need.

Start a conversation

Teams perform when they truly connect.

Even capable teams can struggle when trust is low, communication breaks down or direction is unclear. These challenges rarely resolve themselves, and they quietly hold performance back. Combined with our research-backed assessments, coaching and skilled facilitation create the space for teams to understand one another, work through what is getting in the way, and align on where they are heading, so they can move forward with confidence and clarity. Our coaching and facilitation could help a team that needs to strengthen trust, one finding its rhythm after a merger or fresh start, or a group of capable people ready to pull together as one.

Tailored to your team.

We take time to understand your team, its dynamics and what you want to achieve, then create coaching and facilitated programs to suit. We bring experienced facilitators, practical tools and a safe, constructive environment to help people build trust, communicate well and deliver together. Sometimes this work uncovers a wider opportunity to develop individual leaders or lead organisational change, and our leadership and change services can support these needs.

How we can help your team.

We support individuals and teams through coaching, facilitation and planning. Depending on your needs, this could include:

  • Team coaching and development
  • Team effectiveness and dynamics sessions
  • Workshop and offsite facilitation
  • Strategic and business planning sessions
  • Behavioural charters and ways-of-working agreements
  • Psychometric-informed team insight

Our work in practice

A large Australian government department

Aligning a newly formed leadership team

The challenge

A large division had recently been formed by bringing together several distinct functions, disciplines and workplace cultures under one leadership team. The division needed its leaders to operate as a single, high-performing team rather than as heads of separate areas, and to align behind a shared strategy at a time of significant change. Openloop was engaged to design and facilitate a two-day leadership offsite that would build genuine self-awareness across the team and then convert it into strategic alignment and clear commitments.

What we delivered

We structured the offsite in two deliberate parts, moving the team from understanding themselves and each other, to committing as a team. Day one focused on the team itself. We ran a Myers-Briggs (MBTI) review that built on profiling completed at an earlier offsite, refreshing rather than repeating it. We facilitated a conversation about how each leader's profile had actually shown up in the way the team operated, what had shifted since the previous offsite, and how those changes were already reflected in how the team worked together. The result was a shared understanding of how their mix of profiles shapes decision-making, communication, conflict and collaboration. Day two turned that self-awareness toward the strategy. Using a “strategy on a page” approach and a facilitated fishbowl, each group worked through what the strategy meant for them, what needed to change and how they would enable it, while a force-field analysis surfaced the forces driving and restraining progress. We then confirmed accountabilities, clarified who owned what, and closed with signed team commitments, so leaders left with a documented, collective agreement rather than a set of good intentions.

The outcome

A brand-new leadership team left with a common language for how they work together and a single, agreed line of sight to the strategy. By pairing self-awareness work with disciplined strategy facilitation, Openloop helped the team move from a collection of capable individuals to an aligned leadership group with clear accountabilities and documented commitments.

Tools & partnerships

We coach individual leaders and teams, and we design and facilitate the workshops, planning days and difficult conversations where real decisions get made. Both are skilled work, and both start with preparation rather than a script.

Our coaching begins with an honest reflection of how a person leads and how their team experiences them, drawn from validated assessment and feedback tools. That picture gives the coaching a clear focus and the person something concrete to work on. The tools inform the work, they never label someone or decide anything about their potential.

Each facilitation session is planned around the decision you need, led by someone independent, and run so every voice is heard and considered, not just the loudest. Effective facilitation results in a group that leaves aligned, with clear next steps.
